My family moved around many times. Each time resulted in lost relationships and faded connections. Because of this, I have as many relationships with my memories of people as the people themselves. Without a formal relationship with them, I form a relationship with what was and its current effect. Who and what they were are free to transform and contort in my mind because of physical distance in space and time.

Distance. I am used to it, I require it, but still continuously attempt to bridge it. My work is a response to my interpersonal relationships. Once created, I am able to emotionally distance myself from the original relationship, idealizing or summarizing it for my own needs. To counteract this distance, I used natural materials, soft textures, Earth tones, and detailed stitching. I hope to connect with the viewer over a shared experience, slowly, using subtle imagery and details.
